Responsibilities
♦ Maximum availability and performance of IMS, Adabas and DB2.♦ Client Support.♦ Administration.♦ Disaster Recovery.♦  Other.Maximum availability and performance of IMS and Adabas.• Rapid resolution (or bypass and subsequent resolution) of all problems.

• Installing /Upgrading of IMS and DB2 levels in a planned and organised manner.

• Comprehensive testing and validation of IMS, Adabas and DB2 fixes and upgrades prior, during and after implementations.

• Allocation and placement of IMS, Adabas and DB2 product and system datasets so as to provide maximum flexibility, reliability and availability.

Client Support.

• Correct any problems which are encountered (monitor Problem Management system frequently so as to provide rapid response)

• Check logs and reports and take necessary action to avoid problems occurring.

• Ensure that all activities are performed in conformance with site standard problem and change management processes and procedures.

• Provide problem resolution assistance, on the job training and technical advice to CSC and client staff as and when required.

• Provide after hours support for IMS related issues and problems.

Administration.

• Documentation to be maintained in an up to date state in accordance with site standards and the CSC Quality Management System.

• Trend analysis and reporting

• Conformance to site standards for Problem and Change Management processes.

Disaster Recovery.

• Ensure that backup strategy, processes and documentation are maintained so as to fully support requirements for disaster recovery.

• Participate in scheduled disaster recovery exercises.

Other.

• Travel as required to meet business requirements.

• Undertake projects as and when directed by the Technical Services manager

• Initiate action to manage and resolve issues with non conforming product (Quality Improvement).Raise preventative / Corrective action requests to rectify or prevent problems with all aspects of the business.

Technical awareness

• Maintain up to date knowledge of system software products.

• Maintain awareness of developments in MVS systems software and associated hardware platforms.
